Party Collab
72” x 36”
Oil on Canvas
2014
My friend Ivan created the original portrait and I conceptualized it as a collaborative piece where everyone at a party was invited to paint over it as the night unfolded. The result became a completely new work, created collectively in the moment and intended as a statement in response to a negative teacher.

This piece is based on a photograph taken on August 31, 2018, of my son and me at sunset on Olympia Bay aboard the Lady Washington. Inspired by the original composition, and guided by my mentor Andrés Cubanos, I altered the placement of the ship as my first exploration into changing compositions.

Utah Desert Tree

Oil on Canvas
2025
Drawing from a photograph published in Desert Magazine in 1966, I captured the stark beauty of desert landscapes. I explored the textures of sagebrush, the quiet presence of dead trees, and the rugged erosion of rock cliffs, turning a study of the land into a personal interpretation of its timeless character.

Railway in the Clouds
24” x 30”
Oil on Canvas
2025
Referencing a black-and-white photograph from the book Mt. Lowe- Railway in the Clouds (1976, Golden West Books) by Charles Siems, a friend colorized it using AI. I added dynamic clouds to complement my theme of a day-long excursion on the Alpine Division, capturing the circular bridge of the Mount Lowe Railway circa 1890.
