I grew up in a large family in the Midwest and moved to Pasadena, California where I have lived the last three decades. My formal education in fine arts began at Kansas University in Lawrence, then Washington University in St. Louis and finally at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. I co-founded a nonprofit arts education organization which continues to do exemplary work with public school students of all ages in Los Angeles County. Over the years, my artwork has been exhibited in various locations: universities I’ve attended, Pasadena and the greater Los Angeles area. I maintain a studio in South Pasadena. I'm always on the lookout for visuals that stand out, in the expression of a scene, light, color, design or relationships. It doesn’t matter if its objects together, foods, flowers, an ancient tree, oceans, ponds, storm clouds, clothing styles, people and what they're doing, neighborhoods, streets, interiors, exteriors, landscapes or cityscapes. I hope one can sense that discovery process in my work. Just a few of my artistic idols are Kollwitz, Van Gogh, Kentridge, Hockney, Wyeth, Fantin-Latour, Kiefer, Walt Disney, and my dad.
